Tesla does not offer a shooting brake or a sports wagon in its lineup, and those are very popular segments in the European car market. How can one have a Tesla shooting brake? Well, London-based Dutch automobile customizer Niels van Roij has taken up the task of creating just that. He has worked on many well known projects such as the Future London Taxi and the TVR Artemis Concept.
A Tesla Model S shoot brake conversion adds a re-sculpted rear end with a more bolder stance and a longer roof line. Along with the addition of chrome around the side windows from the C and D pillars, it “reduces optical mass of a station wagon and adds visual length” van Roij says. His development team came up with 16 different design aspects for the shoot brake from the initial three design propositions before coming up with the final design. “The conversion merges seamlessly with the Tesla base vehicle, whilst clearly communicating through form, design language and materials that this is a tailor-made Shooting Brake,” van Roig says.
Dutch EV enthusiast and shoot brake collector Floris de Raadt helped commission the design. He like many others are a fan of the Model S, but wished it was offered as a shoot brake too, now his dreams is becoming reality.
Only 20 units are planned to be built by RemetzCar in Amsterdam. No pricing has been announced and sales are to begin the first week of March 2018.
