Not to be out done by the Tesla Roadster, Ferrari is looking to build an all-electric supercar of its own. Ferrari is currently in the planning stages for the electric supercar, said Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne. In the meantime, by the end of the decade Ferrari’s first ever SUV will be arriving by 2019 or 2020. Marchionne believes Ferrari will beat Tesla in getting an electric supercar out first, as he stated to Bloomberg “If there is an electric supercar to be built, then Ferrari will be the first.” Though Marchionne has praised Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk for what he has accomplished in building up the Tesla brand.
It maybe hard for driving enthusiasts to image a Ferrari hybrid supercar, but there is already a firm plan for a hybrid. After the hybrid Ferrari can move on into building EV supercars.
It’s hard to say what the performance stats and styling concepts of an electric Ferrari will look like, but its clear that Ferrari and other supercar brands are looking towards electrification for some of their future performance cars.
