Painting Metro’s articulated bus

On May 31st Metro invited the community to paint a New Flyer D60LF (#2205). Every year Metro invites the community to paint 2-3 buses in their fleet, which then travel around town on various routes for a year. This year one of Metro’s first articulated buses was one chosen to be a rolling mural as it travels up and down Grand Boulevard. The painting event was located on a parking lot in the South Grand Business District near Grand and Hartford. It took the volunteers 90 minutes to paint the 60 foot articulated bus.

The rolling mural was created and inspired by the Firecracker Press, a local graphic design studio and letterpress print shop. The designs feature numerous landmarks all along both ends of Grand Boulevard, including the Grand Water Tower, Fox Theatre, Powell Hall and Tower Grove Park.

Another Metro New Flyer articulated bus is also being painted in house by Metro, which will include a big “M” and large text “Metrobus” on it. Big and exciting new things from Metro are coming on June 9th! Stay tuned!
